I had to pull up super fast causing snap to slide through the dirt a few feet leaving deep ruts. "Whats wrong?" I asked slowly

I glanced over as Cody and Snap pulled up next to me and Storm, sliding to a stop and pulling up dirt as they did, "What's wrong?" he asked slowly now. I glanced at Storm, who was staring off into the woods before her ears went back and she backed up a step or two, "I don't know, but evidently, we are clearly not going in there."

I frowned and asked Snap to go she reluctantly went. I was not sure what was going on. I just hoped the cattle rustlers were not back.

Besides me, Cody asked Snap to walk forward, and while she obliged, she seemed reluctant in her movements. I wish I could say the same for Storm, but my black mare had planted herself firmly in the ground now, her ears flat against her skull as she stamped the ground, growing defiant, which was odd for her. After a moment, I glanced back over at Cody now and called out, "Hey, there aren't any mountain lions around this part of the country, are there?"

"No but there are rustlers. That's what I am worried bout," he replied now. I glanced over towards him, glancing over his features as he stared off. He really did, but of course, didn't they say last time those people were around, Ty got shot? As well as that girl's horse? I nudged Storm again, and finally, she gave in but ended up rushing to catch up with Snap as we pulled up alongside the painted horse and it's rider, "Yeah, but would they really come back after making such a scene here?"

"No telling they could be hoping we would just be too chicken to come back." I replied. And looked around but the trees were dense.

"No telling they could be hoping we could just be too chicken to come back," he replied as he looked around at the trees, although, the woods were dense. It would be impossible to see anything. Storm's ears twitched again as a snort escaped her and I glanced around now. Just the, I heard something faint, like a yell and then a gun shot, "Cody, did you hear that?"

"Yeah." I said and asked Snap to gallop. Her adrenaline started pumping and we raced to the noise.

"Yeah," Cody replied before urging Snap into a gallop now and they left us behind. I stood there for a second, watching after them as a sense of adventure slowly started to creep into my system now. Clicking my tounge, I gave Storm her head and the reins and my black mare galloped after Snap now and were quick to catch up now.
