I heard hoof beats coming behind me and I pushed snap faster. There was a small cliff coming up "cliff" I said behind me so Carrie would be ready. I smiled as we came up to it. Most people would be to scared to jump off the four foot drop but Snap and I had done it many times. snap perked her ears and soared off the ledge gracefully.. O laughed and pulled her slowler as we started to wind down a small trail.

Storm and I rushed after Snap now, and Storm lengthened her stride to catch up with Snap now, "Cliff!" called Cody. I was a little confused for a second but it soon registered. I just gave Storm all of her head and neck and allowed her to deal with the up coming challenge. I wasnt sure if it was because she didn't care or she didn't want to let the other mare beat her, but Storm took the drop without hestiation and we landed with a thud on the bottom of the drop now before hurrying after her and onto the small trail now, dirt flying everywhere.

We approched what was a little clearing that sometimes had wild horses. "Halt ahead." I said said back to Carrie and I halted rigth before the clearing and a herd of mustangs. "Look." I whispered to Carrie as she halted.

"Halt ahead!" Cody called to me and quickly, I pulled back on Storm's reins now and we slowed down to a trot even though she clearly did not want to. At first, I wasn't sure as to why until I saw the clearing now as well the wild horses. I smiled at them, "They're beauitful," I replied to him now.

I nodded slowly "That black mare is the lead mare we call her Firefly and the bay stallion we call Wildfire." I said with a smile.

I laughed softly "Yeah when they were first born. Every spring she and I would sneak out in the night to try and find new born mustangs thining we could catch one. We finally figured they were happier and belonged wild."

I think they're simply just allowing us to borrow a ride for the time being."

I thought about her words. "I think you are right. I think they simply think of us as their herd. I know if I turned Snap loose she would come back the second I whistled for her but I think she is still wild."

Cody looked thoughtful about what I had said, and there was a pause before he gave me a true answer, "I think you are right. I think they simply think of us as their herd. I know if I turned Snap loose she would come back the second I whistled for her but I think she is still wild." I listened to his words as he spoke and glanced at Snap as she stood there, gazing out at the herd. I turned my own attention to Storm, who gazed out as well, but not towards the herd, but towards the land, "I think I'd let Storm go if I truely had to, but you're right, they'd come back when we whisled or when they know that we need them."
