The calm before the storm

Esca hadn't been right ever since the move here. I wasn't sure what his problem was, but he was always kicking at the stall, and even once, he reared up on me when I had started to cross tie him. Back home, my pony would have never acted like that. Perhaps he had too much energy, or perhaps it really was that he wasn't fairing well with the climate at the moment or being in a new place. It was hard to tell, but I was going to figure it out. I was leading him towards the round pen now, a snort escpaed Esca besides me as he shook his head, trying to yank the lead rope free of my hands. It burned slightly, but I only tighten my grip on it now, determind not to let go until I wanted to. Once we were in the round pen, steel bars enclosing us in and I shut the gate behind us did I free Esca of his bonds. My flea bitten gray pony stood there for a moment, alert as ever before he took off and cantered circles around me. I watched as he kicked up dirt, his hooves like thunder agains the ground, and he let out some whinnies and tossed his great head with his ears pinned back. I watched him closely now as he continued to canter around me, almost not trusting him at the moment, "What's wrong with you boy?" I murmured under my breath now, not even aware of the approaching person.

I looked on the scene, a boy was with a cute pony. I looked on fascinated at there apparent bond and how much energy the horse had, it was a minute of so before he noticed me,and i blushed slightly as he met my eyes " Sorry , i was just watching." i said to him

I had been concentrating so much on my pony that I hadn't even noticed that there was somebody watching us, but Esca had. He slowed down to a trot and then adruptly stopped, his ears twtiching about as he gazed past me with his head lifted high. Glancing over my shoulder now, I caught sight of a dark haired girl now watching us and then apologizing. I was confused, uncertain as to why she was apologizing, or blushing for the matter, "Uh...it's okay," I replied back now, shifting my weight slightly. It had been a while since I had really talked to anybody.

Without really thinking about it i said " I like your pony." as i looked at his pony,i'd never owned a horse,only ridden a few when i was little.

Well, that was a little startling. I glanced back over at Esca now, who must have under stood the compliment as he let out a gleeful whinny and shook his head. I just stared at him for a moment before glancing back at the girl now, "Thanks...he's been kind of a jerk though here. Maybe he's over it now."

I laughed at the ponies reaction and said " Oh he seems sweet though" i said with a small smile as i put my hands in my pockets

"Yeah, I guess he can when he wants to be," I said now. It suddenly occured to me that I was still standing in the middle of the round pen like an awkward person, which, I guess I kind of was. I walked over towards her now, but hte fence still proved to be the barier between us. Whisling, I caught Esca's attention as he stared back at me, ears twitching before he finally trotted over now and stood beside me, "You can pet him if you want," I replied now.

I looked at the pony and looked at the boy for approval again as i reached out a hand to touch the ponies neck. " Wow,i miss horses." i said with a sigh

I watched as she looked hesitant for a moment, as if waitinf or both of our approvals before she stroked Esca's neck now, "Did you ride back home?" I asked now.
