Aiden;
Suprisenly enough, apart from Gena and I, the mess hall was dead empty. We had ran into each other wandering around the area, and decided to check things out. After all, we had decided that we were in this together. Supposedly. Sometimes, I wasn't too sure though cosndering that we are both here for very different things. Pushing through the doors, the large room showed long tables, clearly showing the size of the place, and perhaps the amount of kids that they were hoping to help, "Where do you think everybody goes once they are done?" I asked Gena now, glancing down at her.
She did ntohing mroe than shrug at me, "I don't know, perhaps they go back home..." she trialed off now, glancing at the walls with their country scenery paitings. Figures that they would have stuff like that here at a place where they built in horses into a place where they were suppose to cure us of our drug problems, mood swings, and fears of life, or just try to make us understand. My eyes closed for a moment as I thought about Gena's answer, and I truly wondered if she had fully understood that she wasn't going back to her parents. It was funny how the police nearly didn't believe me, but I guess considering how many times they had to deal me I could see why they didn't take my words.
"Gena...I don't think we are going home after this," I replied stoticly. It was true, I had been shipped around foster care for a while. I think the only reason why I had stayed put at my last one was because I had actually made a single friend who managed to keep me out of most trouble, even with my track record. Either way, I could see how it would end, I'd be sent back into the system, and somebody had told me that Gena's aunt and uncle were going to take her away. But I guess I shouldn't even be thinking about the future, and merely be concentrating on the present. Gena must have sensed this, becaues the fake blonde was quick to change the subject, "It can't be too bad here. I've met two people already," she offered with a smile.
That caused me to roll my eyes, "Figures."
Laughter escaped her, "Come on, guy like you, I'm sure you met somebody as well."
I merely shrugged, "Yeah, I met somebody, she's about as talkative as me though," I replied now, glancing back at Gena, who was now rolling her own eyes at me. I couldn't believe it, since when did a pint sized girl have the rights to roll her eyes at me, "Excuse you, what was that for?"
"Aidennn," she said, stressing out my last name, "You talk pleanty with me. I don't see why you can't talk to this other girl."
"You're different, you're like that sister that I never had or whatever," I replied, annoyed at how sappy this was turning out to be when all what we had oringally wanted to do was to check out the mess hall. I glanced back over towards her now, and she looked ready to say something back to me judging by that smile on her face with a song cracked over the speakers though, promptly changing the conversation now, thankfully, "Oh my god, I love this song," she gushed, "Come on, let's jam," she said with a grin, dragging me over to a table now as we sat down, Gena just happily bouncing around the table now, and I just rolled my eyes, but a smile rested on my face before I slid onto the seat and Gena sat down besides me.
And together, we just sang stupidly and laughed together, forgetting that why we were even here.
